Polling: What Games OS 9

August 18, 2008

What is your favorite game for OS 9? Post a comment with your game and it just might get reviewed. This poll is for OS 9, an OS X one came earlier. Along with my Intel iMac, I have a PowerBook G3 WallStreet running 9.2.2. Games should be able to run on it, but if you don’t know if it will, that’s OK too. Please say which computer you have in your post.

An Interesting Story…

August 9, 2008

Today, August 9th, we headed up to Oakland California (about 50 miles from home) to do some geocaching ( see “New Use For GPS”). We found one cache and then headed for a second. I started digging through dead leaves and then I spotted a plastic bag. The plastic bag was open at the top and I saw the edge of something white. I thought at first it was a cutting board, but pulled it out part way and I thought then it could possibly be an iBook. We pulled it all the rest of the way out and opened it because it was a laptop. It turns out it was a white MacBook! The login screen said the person’s name and showed their photo. We took it to the San Leandro police and they looked up the person’s name. There was a police report for a stolen white MacBook! I was so happy it would get back to its owner. With his iPhone my dad looked it up and only 2-3% of stolen laptops get returned to their owners. It was an exciting adventure.

Have an interesting Mac story? Post a comment with it!

iPhone/ iPod Touch Game Comparison

August 1, 2008

I will try not to talk about iPod Touch ( iTouch as I call it) stuff too much because I know many of you don’t have them, but I will talk about it a little.

Comparing Labyrinth Lite Edition to Marble Mash Lite.
These two games require tilting the device to roll a ball along a course avoiding bad holes to a finish hole.

Marble Mash LE:
Good:
Colorful, more interesting graphics.
Wider tracks, easier.
Lite edition has 15 levels, full version $1.99.
Bad:
Time limit can’t be turned off.
You get sucked into bad holes.
Path isn’t clear.

Labyrinth LE:
Good:
Time limit can be turned off.
Narrower tracks, harder so it lasts longer.
Path is clear and there are hidden shortcuts.
Bad:
Lite Edition has only ten levels, full version is $6.99.
No sound.
Recent update got rid of some shortcuts.

Overall, Labyrinth LE is my favorite.
